Hello

A Bit About Me

I'm an Assistant Professor of Public Administration at the University of Central Florida (UCF). Prior to my role at UCF, I served as an Assistant Professor at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) for four years.

My research interests include public management, government contracting, local government administration, and human resources management. My most recent research has been published in Public Administration Review, Review of Public Personnel Administration, International Journal of Public Administration, and the Journal of Cleaner Production. I am the proud recipient of Public Administration Review's 2025 William E. Mosher and Frederick C. Mosher Award for best article written by an academic, NCCU's College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities 2024 and 2025 Excellence in Research Awards, and 2023 Teaching Excellence Award for the Department of Public Administration.

Prior to my roles in academia, I served in local government for over 10 years and the U.S. Army Reserves for 8 years. I currently serve on the International City/County Management Association's (ICMA) Academic Relations Committee. Additionally, I am an advisory board member for NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement's Center for the Advancement of Research and Excellence. I also serve as an Associate Editor for Public Administration Quarterly.

I teach several core and elective courses in the Master of Public Administration program at UCF, and previously at NCCU. My teaching style is learner-oriented to help prepare students for a career in the public sector by providing them with theoretical and practical knowledge, and critical thinking skills they can apply to their current environment and evolving challenges facing the public sector. In my courses, I aim to use relatable and engaging activities to create interaction and transform the learning environment.
